Hello!

Testimonial: Reshma S, Senior Analytics Engineer, July 2024

August 31, 2024

When a client graduates from my coaching, I ask if they’d be willing to give me a short testimonial at the end of their last session. So far all of my clients have said yes. I’ll be posting them here over the next few months.

This testimonial is transcribed by the client’s request to preserve anonymity.

Rachel: In your own words, what challenges and goals did you come into our coaching with originally?

Reshma: Um, originally I was feeling kind of like…I wanted to get promoted or work towards a promotion and have a plan and just feel more invested and interested in my job and feel like I belong at my job. So I was really confused. I didn’t know what problems I had. All I knew was that I was feeling lost and stuck. So I think this coaching kind of actually helped break it down to a lack of belonging, etc. So originally that was the issue.

Rachel: What are you leaving with after working with me?

Reshma: Um, I’m leaving with a lot of pointers on how to act like a senior engineer or talk like a senior engineer. I’m leaving with some inspiration on project ideas for the company that you know eventually when I want to do it and am feeling less burnt out I will get to. And I’m leaving with tips to handle burn out. And as simple as the tips sound, they’re actually really effective and sometimes you just need to hear it, you know?

Rachel: Yeah, absolutely. If you were to recommend my career coaching to other women what would you tell them?

Reshma: I’d tell them definitely do it. It gives you clarity on where you currently stand and try to be as honest as possible when you you know answer questions. But yeah, it gives you a picture of where you currently are and some actionable next steps you can do to get better and feel better at your job.

Rachel: If you could tell other women in tech one thing, what would it be?

Reshma: Oh wow, this is going to be loaded because I need to hear this myself. Don’t be afraid in a world where everybody is already second guessing you. Don’t do that to yourself. Don’t second guess yourself. Be the most confident, the loudest person. That’s actually another thing I learned from this session. Conflict is okay. Be that person. Don’t sell yourself short.

Rachel: That’s beautiful, thank you. Is there anything else that you’d like to say?

Reshma: No, I think that’s it. I just wanted to say thank you so much Rachel. I have a lot of clarity on where I currently stand, you know, with the company, with myself, with my goals, and I think just that clarity is enough to just think about what I need to do in the next couple of months. Even if I’m currently still burnt out. At least there’s a solution, a path, that I can see.
