Hello!

Testimonial: Julie H, Senior Engineering Manager, September 2024

September 15, 2024

When a client graduates from my coaching, I ask if they’d be willing to give me a short testimonial at the end of their last session. So far all of my clients have said yes. I’ll be posting them here over the next few months.

This testimonial is transcribed by the client’s request to preserve anonymity.

Rachel: What were you hoping to get from coaching when you first started?

Julie: I was hoping to get guidance and accountability through a job transition that I was contemplating.

Rachel: And what have you gotten from coaching.

Julie: Uh, I’ve gotten that. I’ve also gotten some validation that my experiences are normal and that my skills are valuable and that validation is definitely going to be helpful as I move into the next step of my career.

Rachel: What is one are that you have grown since working with me.

Julie: I think the confidence is a huge piece. Um the confidence or competence or self efficacy or whatever you want to call it. Yeah, the confidence and sort of self possession maybe, or understanding of what I am bringing to the table.

Rachel: If you were going to recommend anyone to work with Rachel as a career coach, what would you say?

Julie: I actually have done this by the way. I was talking with one of my friends and I was talking a little about my coaching experience and she asked for Rachel’s information so I shared it with her, but I basically shared what I said just now, which is that I found the process to be really valuable and Rachel to be really warm and helpful and that I felt like my friend who was also in a similar position as I was in terms of burnout and thinking about some job changes I felt like it could be helpful for her as well.

Rachel: And similarly, why would you recommend people go for career coaching. Why is it worth the money?

Julie: Mm yeah, I think it has been really interesting and helpful to talk to someone who is not your friend, not a therapist, not a boss, sort of someone in a new and different role who can offer a different perspective and have different types of conversations with you about what you’re experiencing in your career. So we’ve been able to talk through situations or Rachel’s been able to suggest things that I hadn’t thought of myself and I hadn’t gotten from other people in my life.

Rachel: If you could say something to other women in tech, what would it be?

Julie: I don’t think I have an answer for that. I mean, I spend a lot of life talking to other women in tech, like literal specific other women in tech. And yeah, I don’t know that I have a very uplifting message, but I feel like the message that’s coming to my head right now is that it really sucks sometimes but we really need you to keep doing what you’re doing.

Rachel: That’s a lovely one. Is there anything else that you’d like to say about my business or about your coaching experience.

Julie: Um, no, just that it’s been super positive and I definitely would work with you again and might. So, yeah, that’s it. Thank you for everything.
