Hello!

Testimonial: Ariana K., Software Engineer, April 2024

July 29, 2024

When a client graduates from my coaching, I ask if they’d be willing to give me a short testimonial at the end of their last session. So far all of my clients have said yes. I’ll be posting them here over the next few months.

This testimonial is transcribed by the client’s request to preserve anonymity.

Rachel: What benefits have you gotten out of coaching?

Ariana: I think coaching has really helped me verbalize things in ways I haven’t thought about before and it’s really made me dig deeper into why I think some of the things I do. And what steps that I can take to atleast become more conscious of what my behaviors are and how I might improve them.

Rachel: How has working with Rachel helped improve your experience at work?

Ariana: It’s made me more focused on making sure that I’m my priority at work and focusing on and recognizing what my needs are.

Rachel: What needs did you discover?

Ariana: How to have a better relationship with my manager. How to better set boundaries with some of my coworkers. Or better set expectations with my coworkers. And then also reflecting on the need for work life balance.

Rachel: If you could give a piece of advice to another woman in tech, what would it be?

Ariana: It’s hard but if you focus on yourself you can do whatever you want.

Rachel: If you were to recommend someone else to work with Rachel, what would you tell them?

Ariana: I would tell them that it’s been really helpful to think about my work in a different way and to have somebody to reflect back on me the things that I say about my work and my experiences because sometimes when I talk I’m not always hearing myself. It’s been really helpful to make the space to talk through what I am experiencing and feeling in the workplace.

Rachel: Is there anything else you’d like to say?

Ariana: No, just thank you so much. This has been super helpful. I have already told other people to – I was like, “you should talk to Rachel”, going to coding events or such and such. I didn’t think I would enjoy having a career coach as much as I have and I really appreciate everything that you’ve done.
